A few of Axfoundations coworkers from the program areas Future Food, Circular Economy and Sustainable Production & Consumption.
As one of three finalists, Axfoundation has been nominated for the prestigious award Livsmedelspriset by the network Livsmedel i Fokus. The nomination highlights the innovations and solutions developed at Torsåker Farm, Axfoundation’s test center for the sustainable food systems of the future. In addition, Axfoundation’s way of working – bringing together the entire value chain to solve concrete sustainability challenges – is highlighted as a success factor.
The jury’s reasoning reads as follows: “Axfoundation works concretely and practically towards building a sustainable society. Their approach covers both research and commercial thinking. In their three program areas; Sustainable Production & Consumption, Circular Economy and Future Food. Their work, establishing broad collaborations with relevant actors in society to achieve real change, helps drive the industry forward. The initiative at Torsåker Farm has shown that it is possible to combine sustainability, nutritional richness, and profitability through persistent work. With an equally self-evident as unique method – to include the entire value chain from primary producer to market and always go hand in hand with science – they have managed to develop innovations that really make a difference and established both legumes and bream as obvious elements of the dinner table of the future”.
We are both proud and happy for this nomination that we share with our 300 partners! This nomination is an acknowledgment that our way of working, where we connect partners from different sectors and industries, can be seen as a success factor. Being one of the finalists for this award gives us additional energy to continue developing innovative and practical solutions for further sustainable development, in Future Food, Circular Economy and Sustainable Production & Consumption. – Maria Smith, Secretary-General
